CBD oil for chronic pain

Have you heard the latest buzz on CBD oil? ??

Well I hadn’t either until I was reading through some online Blogs where the product was being reviewed for Chronic Pain. So I immediately contacted the company, The Fay Farm and was asked to review 2 of their Products.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

As I do with most products that may offer some kind of hope or may be a useful tool for my pain, I get pretty excited. I find this reaction rather comical as many of the things I try end up not working and I waste money.   I guess it is just the optimist in me that is holding on to some hope that one of these days, my disease (CRPS/RSD) will be cured.

What makes me an expert on Pain??

Just a little information about the disease that I have so you understand the pain level I live with on a daily basis. (CRPS or RSD Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or Regional sympathetic Dystrophy.) The pain associated with this disease is ranked higher than natural childbirth and amputation. Most of the days I feel like my feet (the limbs that are affected) are on fire. Recently I have had to take a leave from work due to the severity of the pain. With CRPS, you also deal with highly sensitivity called alloydonia (where the covers can’t even touch my feet and I can’t get shoes and socks on). Somedays even touching my feet is not possible.  I have also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have pain body wide.

Products I am Reviewing:

The 2 products I was asked to review are The Warming CBD Muscle Rub & The Rejuvenation Lotion (also contains CBD oil).    The Warming CBD Muscle Rub claims: is a best seller at The Fay Farm and has been designed for anyone with rheumatoid arthritis,
fibromyalgia, muscle and joint stiffness, strained, sprained and tired muscles. Infused herbs with both warming and cooling essential oils provide deep soothing relief. Made with organic in¬gredients: Sunflower oil, castor oil, olive oil, beeswax, shea butter, menthol, camphor, cayenne pepper, arnica, essential oils of rosemary, eucalyptus, peppermint, ginger, ca
ssia, and clove (The Fay Farm)

The Rejuvenation lotion, The Fay Farm describes it as a blend of herbs and essential oils designed to relieve joint and muscle pain. Use our Rejuvenation Lotion when applying to areas that need to be absorbed quickly, like hips, knees, shoulders, etc. Notes of vanilla from peru balsam essential oil complimented with a delicious top note of camphor makes for a mild, almost decadent aroma. Made with organic ingredients: Purified water, hemp oil, grape seed oil, apricot kernel oil, emulsifying wax, stearic acid, argan oil, magnesium, white sesame oil, jojoba oil, essential oils, 200 mg. CBD oil, fennel, licorice, turmeric, valerian, gluconolactone and sodium benzoate (certified organic preservative).IMG_0455

Finding out if this really works….

My product from The Fay Farm arrived within 2 days! It was well packaged and I instantly loved the label. Fate would have it that I had just gotten home from my Physical Therapy session in the pool and I was exhausted & in quite a bit of pain. I collapsed in the recliner and opened up the Muscle Warming Rub and gently rubbed it on my feet. Within minutes the pain in my feet had subsided about 5 points on the pain scale! (I was in an 8-9 level of pain and went down to a 3-5). I thought it was a fluke and decided I would have to keep trying this for a week before I got on the internet and sing it’s praises.

My dad happened to be at the house around the same time. He has Lyme disease and recently has had 2 knee and a hip replacement due to his joints deteriorating. He was also a skeptic but rubbed a little of the muscle warming on his aching knee. One hour later I got a text, saying he was in Walmart, walking around with no pain.  Days later he was still raving about the relief that the rub had given!! ( guess I know what he will like for his birthday!)

Still Skeptical?

So was I. I continued to use the Warming Muscle Rub and continued to get results.  Every single time I used it, I felt better and it lessened my pain.  I liked the smell and it was small enough to put in my purse on the go. This was my favorite of the two products and I honestly recommend the product to everyone even if you don’t have chronic pain! This product will take care of any sore neck or back ache you may encounter.

For The Rejuvenation lotion,  I tried to use on my feet but it caused them to have a burning sensation (with RSD this is typical of most things so I want to caution those of you who may use that lotion on your RSD/CRPS limb).  When I rubbed on my back or my legs when they were pain, it also dulled the pain and didn’t burn like it had on my feet.  Overall, I would use this for aches and pains before I would go to bed at night.

So what is this CBD oil stuff any way???

This stuff worked so well that I began to get interested in the CBD oil and did quite a bit of research. (Those of you who live with a Chronic Pain, you know you end up doing a lot of research yourself and even “enlightening” your medical team.)  If you type in CBD oil in Pinterest you will find tons of blogs and articles on CBD oil for fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Health Review reports: Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive component of Cannabis that seems to have a wide range of therapeutic benefits. CBD is naturally occurring in the Hemp plant and according to the United States own government patent #6,630,507 “it supports the nutritional health of aging bodies. Cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

So it is a part of the cannibis plant but CBD is not the component that gets you high… that is THC.  CBD typically has less than 1% of THC so rubbing this oil on your feet is not going to make you feel anything, except for a decrease in pain.  Much of the research actually shows that we are finding out that for the last 70 years we didn’t know much about the Cannabis plant & the healing components that CBD provides.

Other areas where CBD may be helpful includes:

Fibromyalgia, CRPS/RSD, Anxiety, Inflammation, Spasms, Sleep Disorders, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes, Alcoholism, MS, Schizophrenia, PTSD, Epilepsy, Neuro Disorders, Parkinson’s (just to name a few)

But that isn’t the only thing that makes The Fay Farm products special!

This is a direct quote from Michael, co-owner of the Fay Farm, “I would like to stress that the difference in our products is not because of the CBD oil we use. There is a variation in quality that can be perceived in the final product, but the true difference maker in our products is our infused herbs. No other company our size or larger infuses herbs the way we do and that creates the entourage effect that amplifies the beneficial properties of the CBD used. There is also a tipping point that gets reached with efficacy in terms of concentration of CBD used in a topical. Between 25 to 30 milligrams per ounce of topical solution, efficacy is maximized. More CBD added does not appreciably increase the effect.”   These products are definitely something special!

Go ahead and get ya some!

In Conclusion these two products that I reviewed, The CBD Muscle Warming & The Rejuvenation Lotion are both going into my regime of tools that I use to manage CRPS and Fibromyalgia pain that I have. I don’t know about you but I spend thousands of dollars on prescriptions from big pharma every year and this is offering so much hope for many diagnosis without the Side effects!!!  You heard it here first…  This is the Bee’s Knees and I am sure this is not the last CBD oil product that I will review..so stay tuned!

  1. Hey Kells! This was an awesome review!
What a great idea to offer to review something for a company.
I’ve never used a CBD topical, but I do take an oral drops supplement and have been very happy with it! I’ve been able to cut down on some of my meds since taking it!

Tomorrow, Saturday at 10am, I will be posting your article on the Living with RSD facebook group.
    Awesome post!

      1. It’s me! lol
I just switched over to the brand Endoca, and those are unflavored so I’m going to try and use them topically after reading your review on how well they worked for your pain. I love finding natural remedies also…ones that work! 🙂 Happy 4th!

    1. Hi Becky, I took your question to the owners of the company because I wanted to give you more than a “yes it is legal” answer. Here is what they said: “Here is the rule for CBD: in order to sell this over the counter in the U.S., CBD has to be
      1) imported into the U.S. and
      2) contain less than 0.3% THC

The second criteria is in place because THC at this level is below discovery for a blood test or unrinalysis.”
So it is legal in Indiana and it won’t show up on a drug test 🙂

  2. My son has Complex Regional Pain syndrome, and CBD is also one of the few things that’s actually helping him. I give him water soluble BioCBDplus for his pain. – Olga
